BIG NEWS !!! Indo-US to sign Artemis Accords.
The US and India are looking forward to the agreement that’s going to boost both the countries and will help in exploring the domain beyond earth.
Artemis Accord :
The agreement is going to be between Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and American Space Agency NASA during the Prime minister’s visit to the US. The Artemis Accord is one of the parts of the Artemis program. It’s a mega initiative by NASA to return humans to the moon. Their aim is to build a permanent place in the lunar orbit, and it’s going to come true after the Apollo mission ended over half a century ago.
The agreement between the US and India :
This agreement comprises a set of principles mentioned by international cooperation in space exploration, aiming to ultimately transform humans as an interplanetary species towards their journey to Mars. Both countries by signing will share data, technology and resources, and work together for the safety and sustainability of lunar exploration.
23 countries have signed the treaty that includes Australia, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, France, Germany, Israel, mexico, Italy, the Republic of Korea, Luxembourg, Japan, New Zealand, poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United states.
Why agreement is important :
This agreement is very significant as it comes at a time when chandrayaan 3 mission is about to launch to the moon. Both countries have been cooperating on lunar missions, but only limited to sharing knowledge, this new accord will also help in matters of resource sharing too.
ISRO and NASA have been working together to study natural hazards, melting sea ice, groundwater supply and other environmental issues that have influenced the rising pace of climate change all over the world.
Earlier this year, NASA and ISRO synthetic Aperture Radar (Nisar) too arrived, which will be included in the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MarkII (GSLV-MKII) rocket, which is about to commence from Satish Dhawan Space Centre into near-polar earth orbit in 2024.
Space is indeed the next big area after land, water, and air. The immediate benefit is sharing information on human spaceflight, other things like sending Indian astronauts to the international space station will take some time.
